Newsletter For January, 2008

Officers:

Kathy Tessier, Treasurer; 359-7541 Raymond McIntosh, Secretary; 359-7224

You can tell it’s January, our first meeting of the new year as well as the first meeting of the Adult League Night were delayed a week due to blizzard conditions on the 9th. When we did meet the following Wednesday we had thirteen shooters step up to the line to shoot at the 3-D targets. At the second meeting of the league the list of shooters expanded to fifteen. So yes, there is still room for you on the line. We meet every Wednesday and alternate shooting the 3-D targets with the paper targets. Cost to join remains $10.00, that you get back in the spring as a cook your own steak dinner.
While we are on the subject of club sponsored leagues, George Harriman is looking for help to run the Youth Archery League. It will meet for six weeks, starting on Thursday, February 14th at 3:30pm - 4:30pm. Kathy Tessier, who helped George so much over the last couple of years can’t assist this year due to scheduling conflicts. It’s only an hour a week and the kids will appreciate the help as much as George will. Contact George Harriman at 359-8256 with any day or days you can help out.
The 2008 3-D Shoot Calendar is shaping up, we have heard from the Bear Pak club in Watertown, Black Lake, Plattsburgh, the Raquette Valley club in S. Colton and the Siberian Rod and Gun in Dannenmora. So far no word from Canton, Malone, Massena or Ogdensburg. Kudos to Bear Pac and Black Lake for sending their info before we even asked for it!
Now a little news from the Rod and Gun side of things, at the last meeting we had election of Officers and Dick Parent announced he would not run again as he felt it was time for some one else to step forward and do the job. Our new officers are President Lance Monette, Vice-President Bob Pioli, Secretary Dave McMahon, and Treasurer Pat McMahon. Board of Directors are Nellie Staves, Lance Monette, Dick Parent, Mike Savage, Kathy Tessier, John Hovey, Al Innis, Ken Rossing, and Raymond McIntosh.
Dave McMahon reported that the Northern Challenge is entering final preparations for the big day on Saturday February 2nd. Though he did say he still needs someone to help out at the weigh station. Any amount of time you can give is appreciated. Even a half hour to give someone a break is helpful. Contact Dave or just show up and ask where you could help out for a ½ hour, hour or two, whatever, it’s all good! There will be a work bee at the clubhouse on Tuesday, January 29th at 6:00pm. A work bee is also set for Friday, February 1st, in the morning and will basically be running throughout the weekend till clean up is finished on Sunday, February 3rd. Whatever amount of time on any of these days will be appreciated at an Appreciation Dinner to be held at the Pine Grove Restaurant on Sunday, March 9th, at 6:00pm for appetizers and 7:00pm for dinner. Finally, to bring it back to what this newsletter is all about, archery, Glenda Blake has volunteered to help sell raffle tickets for the Archery Club at the Challenge. Thank you Glenda, I’m looking forward to freezing my but off with you again this year!
Afterthought, If you haven’t paid your dues, please do. Thank you.

Keep’em Sharp !!! ………… Raymond McIntosh Sec. T.L. Archers
